In response to today’s challenging economy which finds New Jersey families turning to food banks in record numbers, Oakland Animal Hospital launched this community outreach program by establishing a pet food bank, Oakland Animal Food Bank. The pet food bank will collect and distribute food for loving and loved pets belonging to families in need. “When you hear stories of people having to give up their pets because of budget reasons, it is heartbreaking. Families need their pets even more during difficult times for comfort and to help relieve stress. We hope that by establishing the Oakland Animal Food Bank, we can help maintain the vital human and animal bond,” said Dr. Robert Gordon, director of Oakland Animal Hospital and founder of the Food Bank. The Oakland Animal Food Bank will collect donations at their location on 86 Ramapo Valley Road in Oakland, NJ Monday through Friday 9-5 and Saturday 9-11.
